It's nice to know that after trying various dim sum restaraunts in the area, your favorite and the best is still the one right down the street. (Dim sum and a nap is just about the perfect cure for a night spent awake because jackholes were lighting off spare fireworks past midnight and the dog wouldn't stop pawing the door until I provided solace. July 4th is her most hated day of the year, and it bled into July 5th when I had to be at work at 8:00 AM.

Got stung by a wasp yesterday -- that hasn't happened in maybe fifteen years. Ridiculously minor, compared to how terrified I was of stinging insects as a wee one. They'd set up a nest in the alternate grill, and I had to switch out the base-plate on account of corrosion. A particularly ambitious wasp took exception to my "focused urban redevelopment."

Clearly, 'exciting' just doesn't cover it! :D

Much of my organizational world seems to be falling into place at the moment (I hope my personal life catches up with it sometime soon [and then goddess blesses me, the Butch and I are talking again]). MVK inviting me to be on their incipient board, VASM asking me to be the Program Committee Chair, The Frugal Domme wanting me to vend beside her at Folsom, and now I'm going to get something going in my own hometown I've always wanted.

Tuesday August 26th at Friction (Vancouver's newest [and nicest] gay bath house [123 Pender St, just around the corner from the Lotus]), MVK presents a very kinky, very mixed (yes really, everyone with manners is welcome) evening at the baths. Standard rates apply with a toonie donation thrown in for MVK. It's a big place on two floors (the main floor is accessible), very shiny, lots of rooms (there's lockers [cheap!], sling rooms and doubles too), and an amazing amount of public play/sex space (and there's an inside bike rack :o).
I thought it would be like pulling teeth getting the manager to listen, but he went for it. We're looking at doing five or so on a Tuesday, then if we can build a successful event, he's willing to look at weekend dates. I want input on how to introduce unfamiliar folks to the experience.
So I'm asking;
How should we promote it?
What problems should we prepare for?
What kind of programming should we run?
Would you attend?

Woman falls off her chair in New York Psych Hospital waiting room. Neither staff or patients help as she writhes on the floor, and then dies. She is lying there for a fucking hour...

I am feeling better and will be heading back to work on Monday. Thank you to everyone for you support last month. I have been meaning to post about some recently finished projects.

Kukka by Norah Gaughan (Note: The yarn is the tapestry colored yarn in the post below which I spindle-spun and dyed a few monts back...it worked well in this pattern.)

Stuff and nonsense! [Jun. 30th, 2008|11:48 pm]

I'm so conflicted about "blogging."

On the one hand, I don't have a physical 'diary.' I was never/am not ever much of a journal-keeper, make of that what you will. (It runs parallel to much of my posting here, really. Too weird or dumb or far out to make much sense.) It's handy to be able to fire up the keyboard and relate my day. For example:

I straightened health-and-beauty all night. People *love* opening things, no matter what they are. Case in point, open douches. Is there a 'surprise' in there? Something unexpected? Is "Cracker Jack" taking a stab at the douche industry? (Tangent: I can't even think, much less say-or-type 'douche industry,' 'douche demographic' or 'douche market share' without giggling like a madman. I dare you to try.)

Also, some oxygen-thief (I swear I read that somewhere else, lest you think I'm so clever. That oxygen could be used by a tree, or a slime-mold, or a slug. Alas, it goes to people like this.) thinks it's hilarious to squirt shaving cream or shampoo all over the shelves-of-same. I'm gonna find this ass, and I'm going to "waterboard" him-or-her with a 50-gallon jug of 'Pert Plus.' I swear to Jeebus.

I can't even have a normal, mostly-customer-free day making sure all the tampons are facing the same way. I get too hung up on people who should work a year or six in customer service, so they remember out of common human decency to put a cart in a corral or *not* hang unwanted shirts/tuxedos/lingerie in the dry goods aisle. Spam, Spam, Spam, booty-shorts, Spam ...

... and that's just work. My home life is *another* six kinds of terrifying and frustrating. On the flip, though, 'Venture Brothers' seems to have found its groove again -- that last one was awesome. This story I'm churning out for Marvel is coming along quite well. (In order to keep from being smothered by the possibilities, I work one page at a time. Slower, perhaps, but easier on the brain.)

So there you go -- nothing epic, just snark and nerdery aplenty. Less bitter and crazy than some of my past zingers, one hopes. Weird, dumb, far-out. Groovy, man. Groovy.

EDIT: I added 'I can haz cheezburger' to my friendslist; hi-larious. Also, bought 'Vincent Price Fly/David Cronenberg Fly.' Goddamn, the original is a work of sheer genius. Oddly, I didn't remember it was in color.

... so I've assembled my team for this week, and I don't expect the HeroClix version of the Doom Patrol to earn anything but derisive laughter.

George Carlin died. Our planet has lost a prophet, a genius and a realist all at once.

I've come further-than-ever on the story 'Happy Birthday, Karnak' simply because it's a little more focused and a little less ambitious than a fully-retold origin of the Leader. (... whose inclusion in the **** ****** I found extraneous.)

I've finished 'A Stabbing For Sadie' in a single night (because it was less than 1,000 pages and I'm a whore for books), so go buy it now. I can honestly say the twists were novel -- go out and buy it, already.

Buy it. I'm ******* serious.
